Different font sizes help you organize your content and make key words stand out to your visitors. Font size is a basic tool of Omaha web design. You set it with the CSS font-size property, and you can use that property in two ways.
First, in CSS (cascading style sheets), write a rule for a class:
.my-big-font-paragraph {
font-size: 28px;
}Then add that class to the tag you want to change, for example <p class="my-big-font-paragraph">.
Second, you can write the style right on the tag. This is called inline CSS:
<div style="font-size: 28px;">Big Text!</div>Use a class when you want the same size in many places, because you change the rule once. Keep your font sizes in one style sheet, and your Omaha web design stays the same from page to page. Use inline CSS for a quick change in one spot.
You can set the size with different units. Pixels (px) give an exact size. Percent (%) and em units size the text compared to the text around it, so 150% is one and a half times as large. For example, font-size: 2em; makes text twice as large as the text around it. Browsers show body text at 16 pixels unless you change it.
