How Do I Manage Comments in WordPress?

Managing blog comments is a necessary part of website maintenance. In this tutorial, we will show you how to handle the comments on your WordPress site.

First, to change your comments settings, go to your dashboard, and then hover over the settings menu, and you will see a link for “Discussion” where you can change the settings for your comments.

To moderate comments, go to the comments area on your dashboard where you will see the comments section, and besides this link, you will see how many comments are on the website.

The number of comments will include any new comments including any pending comments. When you click on comments, you will then be taken to the comments page where all of your comments are displayed including any comments that have a pending status or approved.

Just above the comments, you can view pending comments by simply clicking the link “Pending”. When you hover over the comment, you can then click the “Approve” link that appears below the comment. After the comment is approved, you can then hover over the comment again, and click the “Unapprove” link to unappove the comment if you change your mind. You can also reply to a comment if needed.

To respond to the comment, hover over the comment, click the reply link then enter your reply, and then click “Reply” in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. Hovering again over the comment, you can also designate a comment as spam, or send it to the trash.

If you click edit, you can change any part of the comment including the comment text and email address, author name, and the current status of the comment. After you make an edit, just click “Update” on the right-hand side of the screen, or click “Move to Trash”.

If your comment is placed in the trash, you can restore it by clicking the “Trash” link located above the comments, and then hover over the comment and click restore. You can also permanently delete the comment by following the same procedure, and clicking “Delete Permanently” instead of restore.
