Using the image editor can be helpful at times, but we still recommend using an editor like Windows Paint and uploading the image in the exact size. In this WordPress tutorial, we will show you how to use the built-in image editor. |
First, to access the image editor, go to media and then the library. Select the picture you wish to edit, and click the image. You will now see a screen that can also be useful to edit the “Alt” text and other image information. In the lower left-hand corner of the image, click the button “Edit Image”. Now, you are on the image editor screen. The row of buttons that are located above the image controls the image editing functions. The image rotation button, for example, allows you to rotate the image. You can rotate images clockwise, counterclockwise, flip the image vertically and horizontally. You can also undo and redo editing actions.
If you wish to crop your image, you can drag the are of the image that you will crop, and then click the crop icon, and it will crop the selection. On the right side of the screen, there is a useful help link explaining how to crop your image. When you are finished making your image edits, click save. You can also resize your image by making your preferred dimensions and entering those dimensions on the right side of the screen. When you fill in one dimension the other one will automatically populate to keep you in the correct aspect ratio. When finished resizing the dimensions, click “Scale”, and you change will be saved.
Below the dimension area, there is an option to “Restore Original Image. By clicking on this area, you can undo the changes that you have made.
